Lordshill 10 Mile 2015 – Karen’s Race Report

Thanks for asking me to do a blog entry for the recent Lordshill 10 Mile event. I’m really happy that I have recently joined Fareham Crusaders as I have previously never run for a club. As a “hobby” runner turned “Club” runner I love winning points for the club, especially one with so much girl power. There was a good turnout of runners for this, the 3rd league race of 12.

Lordshill was a new one for me and I was looking forward to getting a PB which would mean beating a fast, flat and windy Great South run where I hit a pb of 1hr 13 in 2014. My race plan was to try to keep at a consistent race pace throughout and I was keeping an eye on the garmin to try to stay at 7min 15s miles. I didn’t start off too fast so I felt good through the race but when I hit the latter part of the race I was really feeling it. On 9 miles there was a steady incline which really tested me but I really went for it on the decline to the finish line.

Really happy to hit a new PB and be the First Lady home for Fareham and a new PB of 1hr 12mins for me personally was superb!

I thought the marshals were really supportive and the other competitors were cheering as I got to the finishing line. Really great course with quite a mixture of roads and some countryside running thrown in for good measure, a brilliant event all around. Looking forward to winning more points for Fareham! 

A huge well done to my fellow Crusaders, I’m sure there were a few pb’s in the following results.
