One in four of us will have a mental health problem at some point in our life and most of us go through times when we feel down. By joining together, we can break the silence that often surrounds mental health, and show that talking about this once-taboo issue doesn’t need to be difficult.
#runandtalk is an England Athletics campaign supported by Mind, the Mental Health charity, to improve mental wellbeing through running. FRC have been a supporter of the campaign since its launch in October 2016 and we continue to hold regular #runandtalk nights throughout the year.
So what happens at #runandtalk? Quite simply, we run as one group, encouraging everyone to chat to other club members that they may have not spoken to before. Over the course of the hour, each runner meets up to 5 new team mates – and the feedback from everyone at the club has been phenomenal.
Please keep an eye on our social media for details of our next #runandtalk night – even if you are not a member of the club, you’re welcome to join us. Together, we’ll break the stigma of mental illness, one step at a time.
